It has been a wild couple of weeks. The last email I sent you was 3 weeks ago. My apologies.
There is a lot going on in the world as you know. It’s amazing to have an online business and try to correlate various events with what happens on your web site and with your orders.
For Knowledge Download, last week showed a dip in visits, in spite of gaining higher rankings in the search engines and having over 100 pages of free content to offer up. What caused it?
I believe for the United States anyway it was our Tuesday elections.
Regardless, traffic is way up now the elections are over. And so are orders.
It’s very pleasing to see new ebook authors from various real world industries go forward to try to help people learn.
The downside is how long it seems to take to get an ebook website built and marketed by our authors.
Which brings me to our feature articles this week.
Writing a book or ebook is one thing. Marketing and selling it is yet another. For our KD authors, you have to get out and market your product.
Whether you are writing fiction or non-fiction, this article will help you get a better picture of what is involved and needed.

I have a small book already published in hard cover but now out of print comprising mainly simple graphic pictures.
I have converted it to a Power Point presentation.
Questions
1. Do you recommend marketing it directly from my own site or through a well-known outlet like Amazon?
2. Is there any protection against pirated copies being made?

Answer:
In answer to your question, as far as marketing, it is highly recommended to market your ebook wherever you can, however you can. Not all at the same time of course. In so far as web sites go, if you can get it up on Amazon, you should do that. But, I would also suggest you have your own website.
Here's why:
If you try to drive your users to Amazon, they will likely get distracted from buying your ebook and/or lured into buying other ones, perhaps forgetting about yours.
Let the Amazon tools sell your ebook to their audience. Build your own ebook website. Drive your users there via your marketing (email, ads, announcements, articles etc.)
As far protection in PowerPoint, I do believe there are two levels of password protection in PowerPoint. I don't use it often enough to say for sure. However I do use Word and Excel enough and they both have 2 levels of protection. But realize, that protection is fairly limited.
If it is the photos you want to protect I might suggest using PDF, as it has some pretty strong encryption and can completely secure the photos from copy/paste functions.
