Hi:

It has been 5 months since I've written an Author Tips issue.

My sincere apologies.

I've received many inquiries from loyal readers and to those of you who wrote, thank you.

Our new subscribers probably don't know, but my eldest son, Buddy, who is 21yrs old, is in the US Army and fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He returned safely to the U.S. in August and took "leave" (the Army's term for vacation) within two weeks.

He came out here to Arizona to visit us. We took a trip to California, flew my other son, Ben, down and we spent some quality family time together.

Having Buddy back has been a relief that is impossible to describe.

If you have family, friends or loved ones overseas in our military, my prayers go out to you and your family.

My shoulder surgery in February this year was a success in one sense. That is, the doc fixed the initial problem.

Unfortunately, he introduced other problems that didn't exist before. After fighting thru physical therapy all summer, I've decided to get the new problems fixed. This Friday will be the second operation on my right shoulder. It's been a long year......

So I won't be writing Author Tips for another month or so, depending on how the recovery goes and how quickly I'll be able to type once again.

See the article here on problems with ezines, newsletters and marketing via email. The troubles are just growing using email as a distribution vehicle.

As a result of the growing problems for ezine publishers, we here at KD have been installing and configuring blog software to post our ezine. As much as we are trying to help readers with learning about the digital publishing and selling business, we're also trying to build a relationship with you.

That can be accomplished with a blog.

The software is a bit more complex that initially thought (mostly in terms of making it look and feel like the main site), so it's taking longer than planned.

Needless to say, we're very disapointed that it is not ready for you - yet!

We will use the email system to alert readers to updates on the blog, but by and large, once my surgery is over, I'll be blogging much more frequently than twice a month.
