The war is over and President Bush has announced
an end of combat in Iraq. Whew....
As far as we know, my son is still alive over
there. We haven't heard from him for 3 weeks, since just prior
to the 'end'. We believe he is ok, if nothing else due to a
lack of a phone call or visit from the Dept. of Defense.
What a miserable thing to experience. Military
officers knocking on your door; Your son or daughter is in the
military and you know these people at your door are there for
bad news.
We offer our deepest thanks and pray for those
who sacrificed their lives and for the families who had military
officers at their front door. May the good Lord bless you.
Since the US cable news channels have gone
back to their normal broadcast schedules, and the action in
Iraq dwindling in frequency, I've found myself continuing to
watch TV and listen to the radio, until about a week ago.
I got 'hooked' during the war. Admittedly
as a nervous parent, but one the less, hooked.
Well I got unhooked and back into the stream
of living once again.
Did you experience this?
I'm glad it's over. Now I can return to more
pleasurable things.

Instead, I'm going to give you a possible

of you in other countries are going to get a big nada this week.

How would you like to exit out of the four
major credit bureaus mailing data lists they sell?
Would you be happy to have your name removed
for 2 years? That's an option.
Would you like to have it removed permanently?
Piece of cake.
This phone number is run by a joint venture
of the top 4 credit bureaus. Congress mandated it two years
ago (I believe) as part of the Privacy Act. Regardless of how
or why it was created, about two years ago, I had my personal
info removed.
My Microsoft Outlook 2000 just popped up with
a reminder to renew my options (yes, I use Outlook to remind
me of all kinds of events/tasks all the time. I'd be worthless
without it!).
Two years ago, you could only get out for
a two-year period. Having just renewed, now they offer a permanent
ban on the sale of your personal info.
My mailbox has been much lighter since! And
funny thing, I'm still alive and doing ok!
