How is your new year starting off? I hope
well!
My wife and I had dinner last night with a
friend and his wife. We have a lot of previous employer connections
so it was largely a getting caught up get together.
During dinner, the conversation turned to
Knowledge Download, this newsletter and the ebook world at large.
My friend is a subscriber to Author Tips and he candidly admitted
he has no idea what the ebook business or opportunity is about.
My friend is, in his own opinion, not much
of a candidate to become an author. But, he asked some good
questions. I thought I would pass along those questions and
answers to you today, realizing many of our subscribers may
not totally understand the ebook phenomena either.
Q: What is all the hoopla about the
ebook concept anyway?
A: Electronic books, or ebooks, are revolutionizing the information
industry. It is doing so in the creation, production and distribution
of book style information.
This technological revolution has completely
eliminated the barriers to entry and has provided an opportunity
for anyone with the experience, drive and willingness to write,
produce and sell their own ebook.
Q: Do you have to have experience
as an author?
A; No. This is the wonderful aspect of ebooks and the Internet.
You do have to have some expertise, experience, and a proven
process or method to express in written form.
Q: What are the most popular topics
for ebook authors?
A: Unfortunately, it is still “Internet Marketing”.
I say unfortunately because most people get sucked into buying
ebooks due to great sales copy and they will not ever have the
realistic chance of doing any Internet marketing.
The next most popular categories include ebooks
in the following generic categories:
“How To”
“How Not To” (otherwise known as “Avoid these
Mistakes”)
The ebooks that seem to be selling in these
two categories tend to be related to specific niche markets.
Q: I’ve got a lot of experience
in my field of work. I’ve never written a book before.
How can I learn to write an ebook?
A: Knowledge Download has hundreds of free articles plus tutorials

the only thing holding back someone from writing an ebook is
simply the unfounded fear of the unknown. Break out my friend!

Favorite Web Site Of The Week
One of the key elements of having ANY website
get high rankings in search engines is getting what is called
“inbound” links from other websites to yours. Now
if you have a real popular site or novel, unique and fun website,
people will link to you without you asking.
That is the tough part. Most of us have good
websites, but for one reason or another, its hard to get people
to put a link to your site.
Recently, I came across a site that was recommended
by a close friend. Having submitted my site and listing, I can
honestly say it is a winner in the area of gaining higher quantities,
and quality, of websites to link to yours.
